This luxurious bento box features two main dishes: asparagus wrapped in pork and chicken meatballs!
Cut the asparagus in half and wrap it with pork. Once wrapped, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and potato starch.
To ensure the asparagus is thoroughly cooked, cover and cook.
Once cooked through, add the seasonings and stir-fry until thickened.

HusbandI used pork scraps because they were cheap, but pork belly or bacon might be easier to roll and better.
Mix together ground meat, chopped onion, potato starch, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
Shape into bite-sized pieces and cook over medium heat.
Once browned and cooked through, add the seasonings and cook until thickened.

HusbandThe asparagus wrapped in pork is soy sauce based, so I tried ketchup with this one.
WifeThe different flavors kept me from getting bored, and ketchup is a great condiment for bento boxes.
Put everything in and mix.
Stir about 3 times. And it’s done.

HusbandToday’s tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) has mitsuba (Japanese parsley) in it.
WifeIt was 30 yen a bunch, so I bought three bunches. I love tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) because of the wonderful aroma of mitsuba (Japanese parsley). Mitsuba makes everything taste better.
Mix the salmon flakes, shiso leaves, toasted sesame seeds, and salt into the rice. Add salt considering the saltiness of the salmon flakes. Of course, it’s also delicious to use flaked grilled salmon instead of flakes.

HusbandThis salmon and shiso rice is a taste I remember fondly from my mother, who often packed it in my lunchbox. I sometimes get a craving for it.
WifeThe salmon flavor and shiso aroma make the rice go down easily. The saltiness is just right, even if it’s a little on the strong side.

Pork scraps are a good deal, so they’re easy to buy. After rolling them up, coating them with potato starch acts as a glue and adds thickness.
